Two Weddings and a lot of Birthdays…

Hello Everyone!

October found us for the first time as Innkeepers with a dilemma to choose between business and family.  The reason we left the corporate world so long ago was to be our own bosses and be able to make these decisions guilt free.  And so we did!  Or we tried.  The pandemic didn’t make it as easy as we would have liked to turn down reservations and income in a time of low occupancy, but we would not have changed a thing.

We closed the Inn for two weekends so we could attend family weddings in Iowa and Florida.  We were so grateful to be able to see our children, mothers, grandsons, extended family and friends.  We enjoyed a lot of food, drink, laughs, games, walks along the beach, and were witness to some normalcy that we had been missing for 8 months.  We were blessed to be a part of two ceremonies that celebrated love and joined two families together for the promise of a brighter future.  It was wonderful.

In and amongst the weddings, we also celebrated 6 birthdays, including yours truly.  I was truly blessed to be able to celebrate with family and have a special cake made and decorated by my grandsons (with help from their dad).

As we enter into November, we are challenged to find the blessings in our lives.  We have many and we include all of you, our guests, in that group.  We wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving filled with health, family, and great memories.

We can’t wait to see you soon.  And…..the officiant for one of our weddings tested positive for Covid two days before the ceremony so I am now ordained.  If you need an officiant for your elopement, I am here for you.  As my grandson would say….”BONUS”!

  1. Dear Mark and Leslie,

My twin sister and I will be coming with our hubbies on August 7th, to celebrate our 70th birthday on the 8th, in your lovely, historic mansion and city..

Thank you so much for being so kind as to have one room without needing to climb stairs. My knees and my lhubby’s back will greatly appreciate it.

I am rather short, so if you have high beds, could I please have a little stepstool to help me get in and out of bed?

I cannot wait to drive from California to St.
Louis. Be well and see you in August.

    Fondly,

P.S. We have already gotten our Covid. . . vaccine shots.
